Welcome to 5th Stapleford

Our aim is to provide our young people with experiences and skills that will stay with them for life. We are privileged to work with four different groups: Beaver Colony, Cub Pack, Scout Troop and Artemis Explorer Unit!

Right from our Beaver Colony up to our Explorer Unit, fun and adventure is at the heart of what we do whilst developing skills for life. As a group, we aim to have one event a term where our youngest and oldest members take part in experiences together, as well as a joint camp in the Summer Term.

It is our aim that each member has the opportunities to achieve the Chief Scouts Award in each of the sections – the highest award that can be achieved.

NESST 2025

Our Brilliant Beavers took part in their 2nd NESST Challenge Walk this year. Throughout their walk, many challenges presented them.

In the evening it was the turn of our Super Scouts, supported by our Amazing Young Leaders. A 10 mile hike awaited them after they had planned out their route. With a late start time of 8:15pm, they were in for a very long walk. An unexpected coach journey took them to their starting point. Seven check points later, supporting four other groups who had got lost, they arrived tired but proud back at Walesby Camp Site at 2:30am. Everyone at 5th Stapleford are exceptionally proud of their teamwork, navigation skills and perseverance, especially walking an extra 3 miles!

ICE SKATING 2024

As a Christmas night out, all sections spent the evening at the National Ice Arena. Nerves were evident at the beginning, and many snowmen were supporting our young members. However, by the end, 5th Stapleford were zooming around the rink and there were plenty of groans when it was time to come off, with ‘When will be ice-skating again!’ Safe to say, a lot of fun was had by all!

THE MILL ADVENTURE BASE 2024

We started the Autumn Term with a group visit to The Mill Adventure Base. Our Beavers joined us for the day, whereas Cubs, Scouts and Explorers stayed in the Pods. First up, time on the water. For many of our young people, this was their first experience of katakanus and kayaks and plenty of nerves were evident. However, every member made it out on the water and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the challenges. In the afternoon, it was onto the land challenges.
